What happens when artists come together to collaborate, paint, experiment and switch their art pieces with each other?  It's a given that there will be an explosion of creativity, but where will it all end up?  The results, which could head in humorous or weightier directions, will be a curious and fascinating juxtaposition of styles and varying responses to the line marker drawings offered by each artist.  

COLLABARéT will be kicked off with marker drawings on boards drawn by each artist.  In turn, the drawings will be shared at random with other participating artists who will respond, filling the board with their particular style of art and elaboration or twist on the drawing narrative started.  Where it will all end up, who knows?  

For 10 days, starting on April Fool's Day, the artists will gather to draw, paint, and apply mixed media at Gallery 525.  All levels of artists will be participating in the show from self-taught to classically trained. The process will be photographed from infancy to completion, sharing the twists and turns of the collaborative process.  On April 10th, the completed collaborative art pieces will be hung throughout the gallery with the photographs of the process being displayed via projector as part of the exhibition.     

To keep the collaborative spirit going, for the opening artists' reception of COLLABARéT on April 12th, an interactive piece of art will be available to the community for drawing, painting and more.  

COLLABARéT is a celebration of creativity and collaboration at its best.   Let the collaborative follies begin at Gallery 525!
