Workshops in ceramics, lustre, paper-clay,lace-making, spinning, dyeing & weaving, welding, classic Greek and Roman silver smithing, bronze casting:- traditional and ceramic shell.
I have needed to create all my life with a large range of materials. Growing up in a large garden on a sheep farm in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, provided me with an endless variety of inspiration. With a very similar climate here in Ojai, California, gardening plays a big part in my creativity and daily meditation, and helps fill my major visual need for Color.
The thrill of the never truly exactly knowing, and or frustration of what a ceramic glaze or lustre will be when opening a kiln, and presently how/ whether the bronze piece I caste the night before will have expected results keeps me constantly at it.
( Have been casting found natural plant materials)
Love playing with the combination of materials, ie:-the fragility and color of lustred ceramics with patinaed bronze.
