Paintings, Retablos, Mixed Media
Since my childhood growing up in the suburbs of L.A., the process of making art has been my refuge, psychologist, spiritual practice, divining rod to the soul and source of joy and freedom…. It keeps me (somewhat) sane.
When my career as an advertising and editorial illustrator collided with the 1990’s dawn of the computer age, I began using a language of symbols to find and express my own story, obsessions, passions and questions. A move to Ventura during the El Nino years of torrential rains and the flooding confirmed and ignited my junk collecting passion, and I began making art with the detritus that I found washed up on the beach. Since then, I continue to dig deep into my story, psyche, thrift shops, garage sales and curb side discards for magic, inspiration and hope. road signs and birds guide my way…
