Karal Gregory uses photography and writing as a way to capture, interpret, and understand life, death and all those amazing points between that shape and define who we are at any given moment. Her first piece of writing, at the age of 8, was a funeral service for her doll, SuSu.
A southern-born Virginia girl with a California soul and a soft spot for old Beagles, Karal lives in Ojai with her rescued dogs, Daisy and Tyler. After holding over 45 jobs in her almost 50 years, she is learning to live authentically and peacefully in the creative process of discovering what she wants to be when she grows up.
Karal is a featured writer in the newly released Rescue Me: Rescuing the Dogs Who Became Our Teachers, Healers, and Always Faithful Friends and writes about life as she sees it on her blog The Orange Chair. She is the editor of several books and scientific articles. Her photographs have been displayed in several coffeehouses and businesses in Virginia and Ojai. This is her first Ojai art gallery exhibit.
She is currently writing a memoir about losing 3 friends to suicide and strives to embody the message she received from a spirit guide: You can expand or contract, it's up to you.
